Busy in Rockledge

The past few days have been so busy here! I am so thankful and happy to have had so many visitors! Natalia came over from Orlando on Thursday last week and we did a little beach time, went out for some lunch, hung out around the house with Jamin and just enjoyed lounging and chatting like we usually do.

Then Friday brought along Steve & Sheri (Jud's parents) for a visit! They brought up in a trailor the last of our stuff from Semiole...patio furniture, random boxes, etc. So now the unpacking continues! We had a fun-filled weekend of swimming, hanging out at the zoo, giving Jamin some organic brown rice cereal (his first solid food on Aug 14, so cute!), and shopping! Sunday morning we also tried out a new church and Jud & I both really enjoyed it...they have all sorts of groups for young married couples, womens activites, etc. I think it will be a great experience and a good way to meet people as well!

After the weekend, Kim came to visit on Monday and Tuesday! We layed low and did some dining, beach (Jamin couldnt have been more bored looking at the Atlantic, lol) and talked about fruits & bucket lists (future post coming soon!)It was a fun relaxing time!

And in between all that I attended a MOMS Club meeting to see about some info for joining, the types of activities they do, etc. I need to meet some people in this town and find some playmates for lil' Jamin!

It's been a whirlwind around here and today I topped it off with a mini roadtrip to Orlando to visit Natalia!

Looking forward to a relaxing visit with Papa P visiting!

More Belatedness

I was thinking about the past couple weeks and the craziness again and I realized I missed some other momumental should-have-been updates!

Well, I'm 25 now. And so, so old. For my Bday my dad threw me a delightful family Bday party with pizza and cake. He even got me a crown and sash which I resisted at first, but then embraced whole-heartedly. Who doesn't like to play princess? Went out with some good friends to Howl at the Moon in Tampa which was SO fun and a celebrations of Meggie's Bday too! And to top it off, Jud and I spent my actual birthday in Orlando with Jamin- stayed at a hotel and had a yummy dinner out. I love good food, friends, and family! Happy 25 to me!

Also, a fun update! Jamin ROLLED for the first time on July 26. I caught his third roll on camera :)

Heebie Jeebies

Well, sometimes after a scary movie I am the type to sprint from my bedroom to the bathroom through the darkness as not to be caught by a scary unknown. The SCARIEST of all are the stories/movies about things watching/attacking/tormenting you that can't be seen. (ie ghosts, demons, etc. yikes!)

Anyways, I'm not usually overcome by fear of the dark or monsters under the bed- but since we have moved into our new house I feel like weird things are happening, and I dont like it. Not one bit. Let's just explore the creepy list:

-Jamin's toys are playing scary sounds and noises. First his play mat starting playing terrifying renditions of childrens songs. Some might explain this by saying the batteries are wearing, fair enough, but what about if it plays even when its turned OFF!

-Jamin's sweet little sleep sheep that he falls asleep to every night plays a nice babbling brooke noise. Well, instead of turning off after the 45 minute timer- it stayed on ALL night playing scary noises. no joke. Jud even asked me in the morning, "why do you play scary white noise for Jamin when he's asleep?" yikes.

-The other night in the middle of a nice quality sleep I woke up to a slamming sound. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper so I blew it off to get back to my shut-eye, but then it SLAMMED again and sounded RIGHT outside our bedroom French doors (scary!). Well, Pacey and Sawyer, who were sleeping in our room also perked up and seemed alert. At this point I grab Jud's arm pretty forcefully and make him explore the house. No explanations for the very near sound of things in our house slamming around.

-The neighboors must keep their TV on all night and it casts earie shadows and light on our back patio all. night. long. AT least the shadows and lights have an explanation.

-Other things: tiny thunder noises will straight up knock things off the wall, lights work and then burn out- then come back to life- and then burn repeatedly. (ok so that last one isnt that scary.)

I will leave you with a quote from my husband, "weird things happen here."

So in light of all this- I extend an invitation for people to come visit me, Jud, Jamin, Pacey & Sawyer and our (friendly, I hope) ghost.

Belated!

The end of July was so busy with packing I forgot (or didn't have the time!) to post J-Bone's (yes, sometimes we call him J-Bone) 3 month Bday pic!

He's quite a ham.

A Mommy's Dilemma

Today would have been my first day back to work at Countryside if I were still living back in Pinellas. But instead, here I am in Rockledge, hanging with my baby, and watching Grey's Anatomy!

Since talks of moving over to the East coast have come up there has been the inevitable question of if I am going back to work. Back home, this was a no-brainer. I already had the job and we had some good quality choices for childcare. It just seems different now here. Jamin most likely wont have a nanny but instead have to go to a daycare which worries me. The more research I do online the more freaked out I become. To be honest, Jamin is a great baby but he definately has his trying days where crying is endless and he's especially irratable. It's enough to wear down a mommy, but I do what I need to do- but would a childcare worker have the patience? It breaks my heart to think of him crying and not being comforted, because in reality not all babies can have full attention in a daycare. Even worse, having him crying out for me and I am nowhere in sight. It feels like a betrayal when he is this little and I'm afraid the guilt would eat me alive. ::sigh::

It's a weird feeling because I feel selfish with whichever way I choose. Staying at home seems selfish because I am depending on Jud to bring home all the bacon (and to pay off my student loans, which seems pointless now!) And to go back to work seems selfish because extra cash isnt the same as extra time with a child.

I'm singing the same sad story I think every new mom deals with- as women, were raised to now set out and make our own way, but does it clash with the realities of having little babies? What do other momma's think?

Melbourne Bound

Well, It's official! Jud, myself and Jamin are moving to Melbourne come August 1st. We found out just a few weeks ago that Jud's company was closing their subsidiaries and moving everything to their headquarter office- in Melbourne, Fl. Melbourne is about 35 minutes outside of Orlando on the coast, and about 2 1/2 hour drive from where we currently live in Pinellas County. This is a big change and it happened quickly, but it's quite a promotion for Jud and I am so proud of him! He is now the Director of Quality.

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind: had to leave my job at Countryside HS (it was hard to say goodbye, theyve been great to me and so supportive!), had to clear out our house of all the junk (i.e. Saturdays garage sale), tell family and friends about our move, trying to pack (nowhere near done), and trying to find a house to rent in Melbourne as well as find renters here for our home in Seminole. Our house was only listed for rent for a few hours before someone snagged it up (so thankful!) and it took us a while to find a home in Melbourne that meeted our needs. Many of the homes wouldnt take Sawyer, our black lab, because he is a larger dog. But we finally found a great house and our move-in is set for Aug 1. Highlight of our new house include his and hers walk in closets, a master bathroom, and a pool! All fun amentities that our Seminole home doesnt have. Despite all these fun new things, I am really going to miss our house- I love it, not to mention it's in the town I have grown up in my whole life! Attached are some pics of our new house in Melbourne (not our furniture!). I will keep you posted as our new Melbourne journey unfolds!

Garage Sale!

Jud & I made $327.40 selling junk out of our garage this morning. sweet! We think we also found a renter for our home in Seminole- good day! On the down side, a garage sale shopper was excited to hear about my due date and upcoming baby. It was awkward when I explained I have a 2 1/2 month old baby. Time to only eat salad!

Sleepy Baby

I'm going to vent some concern over every parents biggest wish: I think Jamin sleeps too much! On average, he falls asleep sometime between 8:30-9:30 pm and wakes up around 4 a.m. to eat, and falls back asleep. He wakes up again at 6:30ish, eats and falls back asleep. This morning "nap" can last all the way until 9 or 10 am! Thats about 12-13 hours a night! I read this could be normal for 6 months or older- but Jamin is only 2 1/2 months. It kind of worries me? Maybe it's because he is a larger baby? During the day he isnt the best napper- most of the time its a 10-20 minute catnap every here and there unless were driving around a lot (he totally crashes in the car!)

Is this normal??

Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Kyne!

Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Pat & Casey Kyne! We had so much fun at your wedding!

Farewell Yessica.

Yesterday, my dear friend, Jessica, packed her bags to move to Washington DC to work for the FBI (intense, I know). We had a lovely going away dinner at Bonefish the night before and the picture is from an early send-off breakfast at Einsteins. I'm going to miss her terribly. Have fun Yessica! Prune Juice

Here's some motherly advice for anyone who cares to read! Just for some background info, Jamin usually poo's at least once or twice a day. Well, a couple of weeks ago he had gone four days with no signs of poo. I did my usual google investigating and was relieved to see this can be very normal for a breastfed baby. I didn't think much of it and went on with life. Well, towards the end of day 4 Jamin seemed really irritated and uncomfortable. At this point, I begin to worry and call the pediatrician. Doctors orders: 1.5 oz. prune juice mixed with 1.5 oz. water. A couple of suckles is all that was needed to do the trick. So the moral of this story- if you need to give your baby some prune juice...my advice is to lay down tarps everywhere and make sure your baby is not in a onsie you plan to keep! I would also recommend mommy not be wearing her favorite outfit either!

Happy Lazy Saturday!

We went to visit my dad today with Jamin for some quality time. In this family, nap time is a major component of quality time when theres a new baby around!

My giant 2 month old baby!

Jamin just turned two months! Here are his stats from the Dr!

Weight: 14 pounds, 2 ounces! (97th percentile!!)

Height: 23 1/4" (about 65-70 percentile)

Head Circumference: Still 16 cm, thank goodness the rest of his body is catching up! (75th percentile)

He also had to get the first round of his immunizations. Three shots in the thighs, poor baby. Luckily, Jud was able to come to the appointment to help me & Jamin deal with the emotional stress!

Water Baby!

Here is Jamin at the beach for the first time on June 19 in Melbourne, FL! He is such a beach bum already!

Jamin had his first pool experience much earlier in the month, on June 13! We only had him in the water for a minute or so, but it was so cute. He was decked out in his board shorts, sunglasses & wetsuit top (that we couldnt seem to keep over his big belly!) Check out the video!

First vacation for baby!

This past weekend my little family decided to pack up and plan a surprise trip to Illinois to visit Jud's brother & his family. Even though we thought only Jeff knew about our trip turns out Bonnie knew all along- so much for the surprise! Either way- it was a great weekend and I definately wish we lived closer! Jeff & Bonnie's little boy will only be 4 months younger than Jamin!

Our trip also involved an exciting Saturday night down in the basement- there was some tornados tearing through Illinois. The town sirens went off and everything, pretty eventful!

Memorial Day Weekend!

The past couple of weekends have been pretty busy! Memorial Day weekend Auntie Carly came to visit from Atlanta and met Jamin for the first time! Mommy also got to have some quality girl time and escape to the beach for a little bit! We also went to see a Tampa Bay Rowdies game- Jamin's first soccer game. This little boy is quite the sports fanatic already-just like his daddy and his nonno!

Life with Jamin

Jamin has been home with us since last Friday- so he has been home over a week now! Here's a picture of Jamin 9 days old. It's already starting to become more difficult to picture what life was like before we had our baby boy! It's amazing how quickly things can change!

Jamin has been an amazing newborn but it is definately quite an adjustment bringing home baby! The first couple of nights it was a struggle to get even 2 or 3 hours of sleep. Jamin cant stand his bassinet and it seems the moment we would lay him down he would wake up instantly. I think he just loves to be cuddled and held. Those first couple of rough nights were replaced by two AMAZING nights where Jamin would only wake up once or twice in an 8 hour span. Since then he seems to have gotten into a good routine of waking up 2 or 3 times a night- just enough to eat and be changed and he's ready to sleep again. Ive been doing some research on establishing some good sleep habits for him- I need my rest so we need to make sure Jamin loves sleep as much as mommy and daddy!

He's has tons of visitors - thanks to all the family and friends that keep stopping by and helping us! Weve had some meals given to us as well as some help around the house and it is SO appreciated. The dogs have been doing really great with Jamin. They still seem a bit unsure if this is a long term change but they have been friendly with the baby which is good news!
A funny story from babys first night home:
So all these moms and even at the nurses at the hospital had warned Jud & I about "the babys second night." Well, Jamin was born in the afternoon so last night was his real "second night" ...this is when baby wakes up from his baby-coma and realizes he in a strange new world and freaks out and his little system goes all haywire...babies are nocturnal inside the belly and its around this time they go back to their old habits...
So needless to say, Jamin slept a grand total of maybe 1 hour that first night...I was able to slip by with maybe 2 total...and he cried and cried the whole time, it was really overwhelming and kind of insane but I hear thats how the first night usually goes...
But on to the funny part: so Sawyer has been really good with Jamin- kind of just aware he's present but doing his own thing. Pacey is friendly and doing good but he is definately more tense- like that first night when Jamin was crying for hours he was whining, pacing, and then he pooped on the floor.
Well by this point I had been up with Jamin on my own for quite a bit as Jud slept (Jud had let me have a quality nap earlier on). Anyways, I kept smelling poop- and I just kept checking Jamins diaper over and over again with no signs of number 2...finally, im like "what is this??" I go into the living room and pacey had pooped and im not about to try to clean up dog poop while tryin to hold/comfort Jamin. I decide to wake up Jud and he is usually the lightest sleeper and I seriously had to like tug on his arm and scream his name for him to wake up. He was so delerious when he woke up and his eyes were all bloodshot...and im like "Hey! you need to help me pacey pooped!"
The conversation went as follows:
"Hey! you need to help me pacey pooped!"
"what?"
"Pacey, he pooped"
::looking around the bed::
"In the living room!"
"you pooped?"
"NO pacey did"
::jud walks to the living room and looks at this huge mound of obvious dog poo::
"who did this? Jamin?"
"WHAT! NO. pacey."
:::bewilderment on juds face::t
The story actually isnt that funny now that it's typed it out- I guess you really would have needed to be there and have slight hysteria at 5 am from no sleep to think it was as funny as I thought it was ;)

Hospital Stay

Jud and I stayed at Morton Plant until about 2 o'clock on Friday- we spent most of our time trying to get some sleep and taking pictures of Jamin!

Birth Day

Long time no post! But now that baby Jamin has arrived I think there will be so many pictures, videos, stories and monumental moments that there will be plenty of posts to come :)

Jamin was born on 4/28 at 4:45 pm. He was 21" and 8 pounds 14 ounces- much bigger than the Dr. had guessed. The day before the Dr. had estimated 7 1/2 pounds! He has a whole head of dark brown hair, dark grey/blue eyes, and the cutest little butt chin!

Birth Day

I went into the hospital Tuesday 4/27 at 6 pm to have some medicine that would help prep me to be induced 6 am the next morning. The Dr. felt I needed to be induced because although I was 8 days past due I wasn't progressing quickly enough. I got settled into the hospital and given my medicine. Within an hour my water broke! Funny part was that it happened right as my dad walked in to visit and I was turning over in the bed to say hello. I wasnt quite sure what was happening so I waited a few minutes to kick my dad and Jud out of the room so I could investigate the situation- part of me wasn't sure if I had wet the bed or not, haha. The nurse confirmed my water had broken and things were progressing!

I was given a sleeping pill and some IV drugs to help me sleep through contractions- but I woke up in the middle of the night with some intense pain! I was moving along pretty quickly. They took me off the medicines and gave me an epidural. With the epidural I was able to drift off to sleep quite peacefully. I woke up at about 5 or 6 am (this is where it starts getting a little fuzzy!) in terrible, terrible pain! I had Jud let the nurse know and they seem a bit confused that I was in so much pain with the epidural- when they checked me they found out epidural had fallen out! Thats right, it had fallen out. The nurse told me the next day she has only seen that once before in her yrs of nursing (what luck! lol) I had woken up from having 0 pain to instantly having the pain of contractions at about 7/8 cm- a lot to handle with no build up! They called in for another epidural and I got huge shot #2 for the night..

Well, around this time things really started slowing down it took me from about 5 or 6 am time until 2:25 in the afternoon for me to reach 10 cm and be ready to push. I spent from 2:25 until 4:45 pushing and finally- our long awaited baby boy was born! :) Although labor was long and intense it was amazing to see our healthy baby. Jud and I are in love!

Baby Stats!

How far along: 33 weeks and 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: +20 lbs.- all belly tho!

Maternity clothes: pants- maternity is definately more comfortable but I can fit into all my pants with a black "belly band" on- lately it looks like im really, really into the long cami look!

Stretch marks: NONE...miracle, I hope it stays this way!

Sleep: I'm a really heavy sleeper so it's not usually a problem getting comfy bc I fall asleep so quickly- but I do wake up with heartburn 3/4 times per night and then I have to take medicine, and I get up at least once to go to the bathroom- I miss the days of sleeping through the night!

Movement: When baby decides he's on the move he is REALLY on the move! He has insane active days but he also has insane lazy days- I think he took after mommy and daddy quite well in that way!

Food cravings: Well the craving changed from chocolate milk to chocolate milkshakes (i.e. frozen chocolate milk!) and chocolate in general....yumm.

Labor Signs: None- thank goodness!

Belly Button in or out: In- Jud checks every day lol

What I miss: Pants with buttons

Weekly Wisdom: Don't sweat the small stuff!

Milestones: I've had three different ladies at work tell me yesterday and today it really looks like my baby has "dropped" Yikes!

Jamin Palmer Nymark

The boy's name Jamin \j(a)- min\ is pronounced JAY-min.
It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "son of the right hand".
Derivitive of Benjamin.

The boy's name Palmer \pal-mer\, is pronounced PAHL-mer.
It is of Old English origin, and its meaning is "pilgrim".
Surname which refers to the palm branch carried by a Christian pilgrim while traveling to a holy shrine.

Nymark, meaning 'new land' in Norwegian. SUCH a viking name!

Saying "hey!" at 20 weeks!

"Hush, little baby.."

Jud & I seem to have been working on this nursery forever! As soon as we get one thing done were on to the next project or purchase. Now it seems like we have all the major pieces in place and were just finishing up with the details (like getting stocked up on toys & diapers!) And of course were waiting for the last finishing touch- little Jamin resting peacefully (I hope!) in his crib!

I seem to be nesting by buying little books and clothes for baby Jamin here and there while Jud is going wild! He is nesting in a very manly way by spontaneously deciding we had to have new laminate wood floors and a new washer & dryer- but I'm not complaining!

We decided to go ahead with a jungle theme, a safe bet for cute baby rooms- the celery colored walls are my favorite. They're much brighter in person than they are in these pictures. At first I was worried because it looked like LIME green, but once the furniture came in it really tied the room together.

This pic of me in Jamin's room was taken at 32 weeks and 4 days!
